my father never used to say anything. untill one fatefull day, we realized that he wasn't in fact mute as we all thought for so long, but had taken a vow of silence at age 6. he apparently did it to protest not getting ice cream. at the time, you see, ice cream contained an isotope that, in certain circumstances, could cause increadibly realistic auditory hallucenations that led to violent outbursts in about 30% of the population. being that he was 6 and all, he of course didn't understand the complexaty of the situation. from this, i learned the most valuable lession in life; always sand before painting spackle. always.
